The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a tragic crash in Midland County that resulted in three injuries and two fatalities early Sunday morning. The motor vehicle accident occurred around 4:40 a.m. on February 11 on State Highway 158, near mile marker 306.
Reportedly, the driver of a Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling eastbound at an unsafe speed when he lost control around a slight curve, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times. The driver and four passengers, none of whom were wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.
Sadly, 21-year-old Mario Govea, Jr succumbed to his injuries at Midland Memorial Hospital, while another passenger, 28-year-old Jesus Mejia Trejo, of Odessa, died at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries, and two other passengers were treated for minor injuries. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
