Tragedy struck in Panola County last Friday morning. A 21-year-old man, identified as James M. Browning of Marshall died in a fatal two-vehicle crash. The fatal crash occurred on U.S. Highway 59, just 1 mile north of Carthage.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Adam Albritton, Browning was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the crash site. The preliminary investigation reveals that Browning, driving a 2009 Nissan Murano, was heading southbound in the northbound lanes on U.S. 59.

The collision unfolded when he struck a northbound 2021 Kenworth Truck Tractor towing double trailers. The multi-vehicle accident is still being investigated by the authorities.
