21-year-old Hunter Coco and 25-year-old Jonathon Coco died after a traffic collision in Lockhart (Lockhart, TX)

Authorities identified 21-year-old Hunter Coco and 25-year-old Jonathon Coco as the Central Texas firefighters who lost their lives following a traffic collision Monday afternoon in Lockhart.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area of State Park Rd./ FM 20 and San Jacinto St. at about 1:45 p.m. after getting reports of a two-vehicle wreck, involving a fire truck. The preliminary reports showed that a woman driving southbound on San Jacinto St. was hit by a Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department brush truck as she turned into State Park Rd.

Due to the impact, the brush truck flipped over, killing two firefighters, 21-year-old Hunter Coco and 25-year-old Jonathon Coco. The woman in the other vehicle incurred only minor injuries. State Park Rd./FM 20, from S. Medina St. and Patton Rd., was closed down to traffic to give way to the investigation. LPD filed a summons for failing to yield right-of-way for the woman. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
