According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Rancho Cordova on Monday. The crash happened on Highway 50 at around 7:15 p.m.
According to the investigators, a red Toyota and a 20-year-old man were involved in the collision. The officials stated that the pedestrian was outside of a vehicle, walked into lanes of traffic, and was hit by the Toyota.
A 20-year-old Nathaniel Byrd was identified as the pedestrian who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the reports, it is unclear what caused the crash and if drugs or alcohol were a factor involved.
The accident is still being investigated by the authorities. Additional information regarding the fatal crash is not available currently.
