The Oceanside Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Sunday. The accident occurred on Mission Avenue at around 12:13 a.m.
According to the officials, a 2005 Nissan Altima was headed east on Mission Avenue when it crashed into a traffic pole present on the southeast corner of Mission and Mesa Drive. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
The driver of the Nissan, identified only as a 20-year-old man, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been fully disclosed at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
