20-year-old man hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash in Ottawa County (Allendale Township, MI)

A 20-year-old man was injured after a traffic collision Sunday in Ottawa County.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area on 68th Avenue near Warner Street in Allendale Township at 5:44 a.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The driver, from Norton Shores, was heading southbound on 68th Avenue when his vehicle veered off the west side of the road and struck a ditch.

The car went flying for a short distance before it struck a telephone box and slammed into a utility pole in front of 12373 68th Ave. The utility pole snapped in half, causing the power lines to fall across the road, and bringing down a second utility pole.

The driver complained of pain and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was buckled up at the time of the collision. The roadway on 68th Avenue was shut down for about an hour during the cleanup. The Allendale Fire Department provided assistance to the Sheriff’s deputies at the scene. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
