According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Monday in Madera. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Ellis Street, crossing Fairview Street. The driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling along the north when a 2009 GMC 1500 Truck was headed the other way. For unknown reasons, the truck crossed onto the opposite lane and struck the Malibu head-on.
The driver of the Malibu was identified as 20-year-old Emilianne Joyce Audler. Audler was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the truck was identified as 38-year-old Michael James Messer. Messer was airlifted to a hospital sustaining injuries.
The cause of the collision is yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
