The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 20-year-old Codey Henderson.
Around 6 a.m. the crash happened on State Highway 16, about 9.5 miles south of Loving. Codey was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Mustang that was travelling northwest. A 2004 Freightliner CL1 towing a 2015 Manac Belly Dump trailer was travelling southeast.
The Mustang crossed the centre stripe into oncoming traffic, hitting the Freightliner head-on. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
