A toddler was left in critical condition after getting hit by a car early Sunday morning on Westheimer in west Houston.
As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian accident took place in the 13800 block of Westheimer. The early reports showed that a 2-year-old boy was alone when he wandered away from his home. He crossed all four westbound lanes of traffic in the 13800 block of Westheimer before he was struck by a car in the eastbound lanes.
The driver stopped and called police for help. He was extremely upset at the scene. The driver reportedly informed that he was on his way to work and did not see the little boy until it was too late. The toddler was rushed to a local hospital via LifeFlight, where police said he is listed in critical condition.
The reports further suggested that the child may have wandered out of the home without anyone knowing, and that is how he may have ended up in the roadway over here. The toddler’s parents reported him missing just before he was hit. Temperatures dipped into the 30s overnight. It is unknown just how long the boy was outside before he was struck. The boy’s family was being interrogated by police. No other information is available.
The incident remains under review.
