On Wednesday morning, a 16-year-old boy and his 17-year-old passenger suffered injuries after a rollover crash east of Hudsonville.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place at about 10:20 a.m. at the curve where Van Buren Street meets 14th Street in Georgetown Township. The preliminary investigation indicated that the 16-year-old driver failed to maintain control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee on the curve as a result of which the Jeep swerved off the road.
The car then struck a driveway embankment and flipped. After that, it collided with a tree and ended up on its side. The 16-year-old driver was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. His 17-year-old passenger was also transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Both teens were reportedly buckled up at the time of the accident. According to the officials, both the victims are from Hudsonville. The road was closed for more than two hours as crews worked at the scene. No further details were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
