According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Oroville. Officials confirmed that two people died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred southbound on Highway 149. A black Volkswagen Jetta was going southbound when it crossed the centre dirt median. Subsequently, it collided with a green Ford Ranger going northbound.
Both the occupants of the Ranger were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The three occupants of the Jetta sustained major injuries and were hospitalized. The identities of the deceased persons were withheld by the officials.
The cause of the wreck is pending determination. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
