According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in Butte County. Officials confirmed that two people died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred southbound on Highway 149 and Highway 99. One of the cars crossed over the centre median and hit a truck going northbound. As a result of this, a car caught on fire.
The driver and passenger in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The identity of the deceased victims has not been disclosed at this time.
Other insights pertaining to the wreck remain unknown. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP. There are no other details available at this time.
