California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash that took place early on Sunday morning on the I-15 south at Mission Road in Fallbrook. The incident was reported to CHP a little while after 1 AM.
A press release by the CHP stated that a Lexus NX350 had reportedly overturned in the southbound lanes of the I-15.
The incident occurred when a 32-year-old man was driving the car, with a 28-year-old female co-passenger. For reasons hitherto unknown, the Lexus veered to the right off the roadway and then overturned.
First responders at the scene pronounced both the driver and the co-passenger dead.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident to confirm the cause of the crash and are still determining if drugs or alcohol were a factor involved.
No further details regarding the identities of the victims, nor the cause of the fatal accident are available at this time.
