A fatal four-vehicle crash on State Highway 36, 8 miles southwest of Eula in Callahan County, claimed the lives of two individuals and injured two others. The incident occurred on March 10, 2024, at 2:32 p.m.
The crash resulted from an unsafe passing maneuver by a 19-year-old driver from College Station, causing a head-on collision with a Nissan Versa. The Nissan’s occupants, a driver from Round Rock and a passenger from Hutto, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed the BMW’s attempt to overtake without clearance as the initiating factor. The injured parties were transported to Hendrick North Hospital for treatment.
