According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Carlsbad claimed the lives of two people on Saturday. The accident occurred on Interstate 5 at around 3:49 a.m.
According to the officials, several vehicles were involved in a collision. A gray Hyundai Sedan traveling southbound lanes of I-5 crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which led a white Nissan Altima to strike the Jeep. A 28-year-old woman passenger in the Jeep and one of the male drivers were fatally injured as a result.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
