According to California Highway Patrol, two people were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 74 in Perris on Sunday.
Roughly at 11:33 p.m., a man driving a Honda CRV east collided with a Nissan Sentra that was driving westbound. Both drivers were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the drivers is identified as 23-year-old Samantha Hernandez Renteria of Costa Mesa. The man in the other vehicle is a 20-year-old from Lake Elsinore.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
