The Oceanside Police Department reported a multi-vehicle collision that took the lives of two people in Oceanside on Friday. Roughly at 7:36 p.m., three vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of State Route 76 and Canyon Drive.
A grey Mercedes Sedan travelling north ran the red light and a U-haul truck that was travelling east on SR-76 struck the side of the Mercedes. This led both vehicles to collide with a White Kia Sedan.
As a result, two occupants of the Mercedes were fatally injured and were pronounced dead. The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
