The California Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle crash on Sunday. The accident occurred near Matilda Avenue in Sunnyvale at around 4 a.m.
According to the officials, a silver 2021 Honda Civic was headed east on the westbound lanes. This put the vehicle in the path of a red 2017 Honda Civic and the two vehicles collided.
The drivers of both vehicles incurred fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are not yet known at this time. The officials have reported that the wrong0way driver has only been identified as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s to early 30s. The other driver was described as a white male also around the same age.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role.
