The San Marcos Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on Friday morning. The accident occurred on the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at around 7 a.m.
According to the officials, a GMC pickup truck was headed north when it lost control and crashed into an 18-wheeler. The force of the collision caused the pickup to flip over the central median and onto the southbound lanes. The pickup then crashed into a minivan which resulted in a second collision.
A passenger present in the GMC pickup was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of the deceased victims is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time.
