The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident on Friday near Pittsburg. The accident occurred on Highway 4 near Bay Point at around 8:15 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the crash. A GMC pickup truck crashed into a Volkswagen sedan and then veered off the roadway and overturned.
Both occupants of the GMC truck were thrown from the car and incurred critical injuries. They were taken to a hospital where they succumbed to them and were pronounced dead. Their identities are not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
