Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning, Feb. 24, just west of the SH 105 bridge over the Trinity River. Two individuals from Houston lost their lives in the tragic multi-vehicle accident.
The driver of a 2007 silver Toyota Camry reportedly veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a 2005 Lexus SC 430 driven by a 53-year-old man from Willis, Texas. Both Houston residents died at the scene, while the Willis man and five other passengers were transported to area hospitals.
Sgt. Rob Willoughby of the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that alcohol may have played a role, as multiple open containers were found inside the Camry. The investigation is ongoing by Troopers Austin Alexander and William Koen.
