The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reported a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 on January 6. The accident occurred on I-5 south of Old River Road around 7.30 a.m.
Following the crash, 30 vehicles were involved in the initial crash. Two people suffered major injuries, while seven had moderate injuries. All the injured were transported to local hospitals.
The victims, identified as 62-year-old Patricia Anne Wilson and 45-year-old Pedro Garcia Canseco, were both pronounced dead on the scene.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. An initial investigation into the incident shows drivers involved in the crash encountered a pocket of fog within less than 100 feet of visibility.
