According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Imperial County at around 3:27 p.m. The crash happened on State Route 86 on Monday.
According to the investigators, a 2023 Peterbilt, an unidentified Big Rig, and an unknown vehicle were involved in the collision. The driver of the Big Rig collided with the rear of the unidentified vehicle that also collided with the 2023 Peterbilt.
According to the reports, the driver and the passenger of the unknown vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The Imperial County Police Department did not reveal the identities and the names of the unknown deceased people.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
