Early Saturday morning, tragedy struck just west of the SH 105 bridge over the Trinity River, as a fatal multi-vehicle accident unfolded, claiming the lives of two Houston residents. The fatal crash involved a 2007 silver Toyota Camry traveling eastbound, whose driver failed to maintain lane discipline and veered into the path of an oncoming 2005 Lexus SC 430, driven by a 53-year-old man from Willis, Texas.
Both occupants of the Camry succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the Willis man and five other passengers were transported to area hospitals, with one airlifted in serious condition to HCA Kingwood.
Sgt. Rob Willoughby of the Texas Department of Public Safety expressed concerns over alcohol’s role, citing multiple open containers found in the Camry. The investigation by Troopers Austin Alexander and William Koen is ongoing, with names withheld pending next of kin notification.
