The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a two-vehicle accident on Saturday.
The accident occurred on Hazen Road, near milepost 149 in the evening.
According to the officials, a vehicle had tried to cross State Route 85 at Hazen Road when it came into the path of another car southbound on the freeway. The two vehicles collided.
The impact force caused the first vehicle to roll over into the median.
There were five people present in the car. Two of the passengers incurred critical injuries and later died due to them. The other three occupants were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officials have not disclosed any details regarding the occupants of the second vehicle.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
There are no other details available at the moment.
