The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a motor vehicle accident in Sutter County on February 3. The crash occurred along Highway 99 and the exact time of the accident is unknown.
According to the authorities, a 20-year-old woman driving a car veered off the road south of Live Oak Boulevard and crashed into a tree. The driver reportedly took a sharp turn, leading to the car striking a dirt embankment before colliding with the tree. Both the driver and a 19-year-old passenger were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. While the identities of the victims were withheld, authorities confirmed their origin from Gridley.
