In the early hours of Monday morning, a tragic motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of two individuals in Stockton, according to the California Highway Patrol Stockton station.
At 12:15 a.m., a 31-year-old driver was operating a 1999 Toyota SUV southbound on Industrial Park Drive. He made an “unsafe” turning maneuver for reasons unknown, resulting in a loss of control. The vehicle collided with the centre median near Van Ryn Avenue, causing it to overturn and land on its roof.
Neither the driver nor the 33-year-old passenger from Utah was wearing seatbelts, with the driver partially ejected from the vehicle. They were both fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victims is not yet known at this time.
CHP suspects that drugs and/or alcohol may have played a role in the tragic fatal crash.
