The Oxnard Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Sunday. The accident occurred near the intersection of Arcturus Avenue and McWane Boulevard just after 7 p.m.
According to the officials, a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was headed west on McWane when it lost control and collided with an electric pole. There were four people present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. Two of the four were in critical condition and succumbed to their injuries. They were declared dead at the scene.
The other two people were taken to Ventura County Medical Center where they are reported to be in stable condition. The identities of the victims are not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is suspected to be speed and reckless driving. They also suspect alcohol to have played a role.
