A tragic motor vehicle accident unfolded early Sunday when a woman lost her life after her car collided with a piece of apparatus from the South Montgomery County Fire Department.

The fatal crash occurred around 1 a.m. on northbound Interstate 45 near Rayford Road, where a ladder truck was blocking a crash scene. Approximately two hours later, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 29-year-old failed to slow down and struck the back of the ladder truck, as reported by the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

The impact resulted in the driver’s death at the scene, while three firefighters inside the rig emerged unharmed. Fire officials expressed concerns that the apparatus may be totaled due to the extent of the damage. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision.
