On Sunday evening, a tragic fatal crash on a Valley freeway led to a car fire, resulting in the death of two individuals. The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a single-vehicle collision at the Superstition Springs exit of the U.S. 60 eastbound ramp around 7 p.m.
The van, travelling at a high rate of speed, crashed into a barrier wall, causing it to catch fire. Both the driver and front passenger were fatally injured in the motor vehicle accident. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victims is not yet known at this time.
The eastbound Superstition Springs exit ramp is closed as authorities work to clear the scene and investigate the crash. Westbound traffic at Superstition Springs is limited, with drivers advised to avoid the area. Traffic on the U.S. 60 mainline remains unaffected.
