According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident in Madera County killed two women and left three others injured on Friday.
Approximately at 8:05 p.m., on Highway 99, north of Highway 152, a woman was driving a Toyota Camry at a high speed. She hit a light pole on the east shoulder of the embankment and toppled down.
The driver and a female passenger were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. The other three female occupants were taken to the hospital.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
