Tragedy struck early Monday morning as a single-vehicle rollover claimed the lives of two National Guardsmen near TX-Loop 20 and International Blvd, according to KGNS News.
The fatal crash occurred around 1:30 a.m., resulting in a 27-year-old Guardsman being ejected from the Ford F-150 pickup truck during the rollover. The 21-year-old driver, in a valiant effort to save his fellow soldier, performed CPR but was unable to revive him.
The 21-year-old driver then took his own life at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and the Laredo Police Department Crash Team is actively investigating this tragic motor vehicle accident.
