According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Thursday morning in Madera County.
Officials confirmed that two people died and two people were injured due to the accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Avenue 9 near Children’s Boulevard.
A Honda Civic heading eastwards went into the westbound lane.
It then crashed head-on with a Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Civic and a passenger in the Corolla were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Two other people in the Corolla were immediately transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Overspeeding is believed to be a factor that led to the accident.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
