On Monday afternoon, a Honda SUV ran through the front of a clothing alteration business in an Algiers strip mall and injured the driver and the owner of the business.
The incident took place in the 3800 block of General DeGaulle at a strip mall near the busy intersection of DeGaulle and Holiday Drive. EMS actively responded to the crash scene and took the victims out of the building.
Bystanders informed that a woman driving the Honda entered the parking lot and was slowing down when the vehicle began accelerating and went through the front of the store for unknown reasons. The owner of the mall was trapped under the SUV.
Reports showed that the car slowly made its way into the parking spot located in front of the store, quickly moved and smashed into the store. Family members informed authorities that she was taken to the hospital with a severe knee injury. Medics transported the driver of the vehicle to the hospital with unidentified injuries.
An investigation is underway.
