On late Thursday afternoon, two people suffered injuries following a traffic collision on I-40 West.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded in the downtown area at about 4:40 p.m. after getting report of a two-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that one of the vehicles went across the median from I-40 East and crashed into another vehicle while it was going on I-40 West.
On arrival, emergency responders rescued the drivers of both cars from their vehicles. The victims suffered major injuries in the accident. Both the drivers were the only occupants of their vehicles. The highway was briefly shut down to give way to the investigation. It was back open by 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. No other details are available.
The crash remains under review.
