2 people hurt after a traffic collision in Ferndale (Ferndale, WA)

On Thursday, two people were hurt following a traffic collision in Ferndale.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the northbound I-5 lanes on the Nooksack River Bridge at about 6:10pm after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. On arrival, emergency responders evaluated the two drivers and released them at the scene with minimal injuries. The at-fault driver was placed into custody for driving under the influence and their vehicle was impounded.

Both northbound lanes were initially shut down as crews worked at the scene, but by 6:25pm, 1 lane was back open. 1 lane of southbound Interstate 5 was also temporarily closed. By 6:30pm, traffic in the northbound lanes was congested approximately 3 miles to the Slater Road interchange. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
