2 people hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident on State Route 138 near Coriander Drive (Hesperia, CA)

Two people were injured following a two-car crash Saturday morning on State Route 138 near Coriander Drive.

As per the initial information, the head-on collision took place at about 7:15 a.m. on State Route 138 between Coriander Drive and Summit Post Office Road. The preliminary reports showed that a silver Dodge Avenger and a black Honda Accord were involved in the accident.

Both vehicles had major front-end damage following the crash. Two people received critical injuries and one of them required extrication. Two helicopters were requested to the scene, but one was later canceled. A Mercy Air helicopter airlifted one of the injured male drivers to a trauma center. A ground ambulance took the other male driver to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The two-lane highway was blocked during the investigation. The incident also led to the closure of east and westbound lanes of Highway 138 between Wagon Train and Summit Valley Road. The roadway was reopened in both directions at about 9:44 am. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
