2 people hospitalized after a traffic collision in Knoxville (Knoxville, TN)

On Thursday, two people suffered injuries following a traffic collision in Knoxville.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Rutledge Pike near Shipetown Road. According to the first responders, one driver was pinned in the vehicle for approximately 40 minutes as a result of the accident.

Both drivers were rushed to the trauma center for treatment of their injuries. One of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries. Lane on westbound of State Route 1 was shut down as crews worked at the scene. Drivers were advised to avoid the area. No other details are immediately available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
