The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in East Wenatchee on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on Highway 2, close to Turtle Rock at around 6:40 a.m.

Luis Martinezmolina, 33, of Wenatchee was driving a 1993 Ford Probe eastbound on Highway 2 when it lost traction close to milepost 135. The Ford Probe turned in an anticlockwise direction, crossing both lanes and the centerline. Peter Kobzar, 61, of East Wenatchee was operating a 2007 Honda Accord when it collided with a Ford Probe in the passenger side door while moving west in lane one.

According to the officials, both drivers were going at a speed that was too high for the prevailing road conditions. This is presumed to be the cause of the accident as both vehicles lost control.

The fatal crash is still being investigated.
