The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday night in San Mateo County. The accident happened on Highway 1 in Bean Hollow State Beach at around 6:40 p.m.
The collision involved two vehicles. The events leading up to the crash are not yet known at this time.
According to CHP Officer Art Montiel, two people died in the collision. Their name and identity have not been made public yet. It is not yet known if other people were injured.
He was trying to verify reports that one of the cars in the collision ended up in the water.
According to Montiel, the highway was shut down at the beach as of 9 p.m. in both directions. No other details regarding the fatal crash are available currently.
