The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday night.
Police were called to a collision involving two bicycles and a sedan close to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Etiwanda Avenue at around 8:20 p.m.
The suspect was traveling east on Foothill Boulevard when he entered the right-hand bicycle lane to pass other vehicles. The two victims, a 41-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were riding west in the bicycle lane against the flow of traffic when the driver slammed into them.
The woman had already been pronounced dead when deputies arrived. The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the suspect, Robert Gubany, 23, of Fontana.
He was detained on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter among other charges.
Investigations into the fatal incident are still ongoing.
