The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in Puyallup on Monday.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Tacoma resident Levi Moser and Puyallup resident Benjamin Metzger were merging from Interstate 5 to northbound Interstate 705 in a Honda Accord with a 15-year-old girl when a driver suspected of driving under the influence struck them head-on.
The Honda’s driver, Moser was pronounced dead at the scene. Both of his passengers were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where Metzger eventually passed away. Additionally hurt was a 27-year-old woman riding in the wrong-way driver’s car.
The only passenger in the car wearing a seat belt was the 15-year-old who survived the fatal crash.
Gregory Steele, the wrong-way driver, was detained and the following day was accused of DUI vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault in Pierce County Superior Court.
