The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday morning. The collision happened at around 11:43 a.m. along a drainage canal on Midway Road north of Mile 4 North.
As part of their preparations for hurricane season, the two men were working alongside a levee, according to Raul Sesin. A JCB that was being used for the cleanup, according to Sesin, shifted and fell down an embankment, killing one worker and injuring the other.
Both workers’ identities have not been made public. Both men worked for the No. 1 Drainage District of Hidalgo County.
Investigators are still looking into the fatal crash. There is currently no other information available.
