2 People Died In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Ephrata (Ephrata, WA)

The Grant County Sheriff’s Unit reported a motor vehicle crash on Saturday morning. 

A 2002 Volkswagen Jetta traveling west on Baird Springs Road Northwest and slamming into a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on Sagebrush Flats Road Northwest. The Silverado collided with a utility pole, causing exposed wires to fall into the road and starting a small brush fire.

Dejay E. Troupe, 23, of Spokane, and Mya Kay Avila, 18, of Ephrata, both passed away at the scene. The Jetta’s driver, Cesar Torivio Balderas Jr., 18, was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital. Fernando Leonel Padilla, 24, of Ephrata, who was the last Jetta passenger, was flown with serious injuries to Providence-Sacred Heart Medical Centre.

Ryan Reinhart, the Silverado’s 49-year-old driver, and a Chelan teenager, both were transported to the Columbia Basin Hospital with minor injuries.
