2 men killed, woman hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision south of Wapato (Wapato, WA)

On Tuesday afternoon, two men lost their lives while a woman suffered injuries following a suspected DUI accident south of Wapato.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the intersection of Progressive Rd and S Wapato Rd at about 2:48 p.m. after getting reports of a car crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that a red 1998 Ford Mustang occupied by two men was traveling east on Progressive Rd towards a posted stop sign.

On the other hand, a woman in a red 2013 Dodge Ram was heading north on S. Wapato Road. The woman in the Ram had the right of way, but the Mustang apparently failed to yield and entered the intersection illegally. Just then, the Mustang crashed into the passenger’s side of the Ram, sending both vehicles off the roadway. Both the men in the Mustang succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The woman driving the Ram was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. Authorities believe that intoxicants contributed to the accident. No additional information has been provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
