On Saturday, two people lost their lives following a head-on crash on State Route 238.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the two-vehicle accident took place at about 10:32 p.m. on milepost 27.5, near the western end of the highway in Maricopa County. As per the reports, a pickup truck heading westbound crossed the center line and went into the eastbound lane.
At the same time, a commercial vehicle was traveling on the eastbound lane and it collided with the pickup head-on. Both drivers were declared dead at the scene. The officials shut down both lanes of SR 238 on Saturday night. The authorities will release the identities of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
