In a devastating turn of events, a 19-year-old woman, identified as Savanna Trigo from Hayward, lost her life on Monday afternoon after being struck by an Amtrak train. The fatal crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. near the West Blossom Way crossing.
Trigo was reportedly on the tracks when she was hit by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train en route from Sacramento to San Jose. Despite an immediate response, Trigo was pronounced dead in the motor vehicle accident by authorities.
Miraculously, none of the 69 passengers and crew members aboard the train sustained injuries. The tragic event led to a temporary delay in train operations as authorities conducted investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
