On late Tuesday morning, a 19-year-old man lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle while walking on the side of a highway in Lockhart.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of State Highway 142/San Antonio Street at about 11:45 a.m. after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that the man was struck by a vehicle while walking alongside the roadway. He succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Reports further revealed that the driver fell asleep while driving as a result of which the vehicle drifted off the road and hit the victim. Officers are still looking into the cause of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
