Authorities identified 19-year-old Joseph Daniel Saiz and 18-year-old Elana Keltner Crawford as the two teenagers who were killed Saturday night after their car was hit by two other vehicles in Glendale.
The investigation reports showed that 19-year-old Joseph Daniel Saiz was driving along Bell Road near 67th Avenue in a Ford Mustang along with 18-year-old Elana Keltner Crawford who was riding as a passenger. At around 8:30 p.m., Saiz was reportedly speeding without headlights on Bell Road when his car was struck by another vehicle that was turning onto Grandview Road. The impact of the crash caused Saiz’s vehicle to smash into the median and two trees.
After colliding with the trees, Saiz’s car kept on going into the westbound lane where it was hit by another vehicle. Saiz was not wearing a seatbelt at that time and was thrown from the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. On the other hand, Crawford was rushed to the hospital where she later died of her injuries. One of the other drivers was also transported to the hospital with minimal injuries.
An investigation continues.
