The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident in Midland County on Monday. The accident occurred on State Highway 349, about 12 miles north of Midland. 

According to the officials, two trucks were travelling south when one of them started to slow down due to another crash ahead. This truck was hit by another vehicle from behind. 

The passenger in the third vehicle was fatally injured and rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The authorities have identified him as 19-year-old Brolyn James Chavez. 

The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
